If you enjoy the mountains you will be spoilt for choice, imagine sitting on the decking where you will be looking south across the River Chro to the world famous Five Sisters of Kintail mountain range, three of which are classified as Munros, to the north east is Beinn Fhada or (Beinn Attow) which is another equally popular mountain in the area.
Passing through our croft is one of the preferred routes to The Falls of Glomach which is one of the highest waterfalls in Britain, with a drop of 113m (370ft), set in a steep narrow cleft in the remote Highland country.
The five-mile uphill path to the falls requires a reasonable level of fitness and rewards visitors with stunning Highland views. We recommend you allow five hours for the round trip.
Close by is the Morvich outdoor center run by the National Trust for Scotland, where you can book various guided tours, mountain walks, nature walks, kayaking and receive great local knowledge from the rangers.
The River Chro borders our croft, which is jointly owned by the National Trust for Scotland and a local estate, contains salmon, sea trout and brown trout. The wild life in the area includes red deer which often wander down from the hills and graze on the heather at the front of the cottages, the more elusive, fox, badger, otter and pine marten can sometimes be seen. Golden eagles, buzzards, ducks, herons and ravens are the larger birds commonly seen.
